Smartstuff by Universal Premieres Four New Smartcribs
LAS VEGAS, Sept. 7, 2014 – A crib, usually the first piece of furniture expectant parents buy, sets the tone for the nursery and often for the child’s room for years to come.
“Today’s new parents do their homework,” says Jeff Scheffer, president and CEO of Universal Furniture International, Inc. “They have a sophisticated sense of style, as well as clear expectations about function, versatility and safety. They’re looking for beautiful, adaptable furniture that will grow with their child.”
Designed with the same Smartstuff™ combination of design excellence, exceptional manufacturing construction, safety that meets or exceeds government regulations and standards, and special smart features, Smartcribs by Universal Furniture ensures sweet dreams for baby and peace of mind for parents.
Four crib designs are available in multiple finishes to coordinate with the styling of the 10 Smartstuff™ collections. As the baby grows, the cribs can be converted into toddler beds, daybeds and then into full-size beds, taking kids from lullabies to laptops and eventually to college. An Under-Bed Storage Unit or a Trundle simply requires the addition of a Low Profile Footboard. A removable Changing Station, also available in coordinating finishes, adds extra versatility.
“What sets Smartcribs apart is a focus on how new parents really live and care for their babies,” Scheffer says. “To better accommodate varying heights of parents, we’ve designed removable feet, which allow the crib to be lowered for easier access. Also, our fully finished mattress platforms match the cribs, eliminating the need for a bed skirt. Parents appreciate flexibility in both the practical aspects of life with a new baby as well as the functional options that may be needed a few years later.”
Smartcribs debuts with four designs:
- Gabriella, Bellamy and Genevieve: Winsome and charming, the crib’s graceful arched panel back, turned round spindles on the front and sides, shaped apron and turned bun feet coordinate with decorative collections designed just for girls.
- Classics 4.0: Available in the Saddle Brown, Summer White and Classic Cherry finishes, with timeless styling and traditional Louis Philippe details, this design features a gently arched, framed panel slat back that is equally at home in a boy’s or girl’s nursery. The arch motif is echoed in the panel slat front and upswept sides. Simple, tapered bun feet complete the look.
- Paula Deen Guys and Black & White: Sturdy crown molding and horizontal beading distinguish the panel back of this authentic and timeless crib, with beaded slats in the footboard and turned bun feet.
- Freestyle: For parents who prefer a more streamlined look for their son or daughter, the Freestyle Crib, in a rich Mocha finish, features a framed square panel back, with unadorned round spindles in the footboard and splayed tapered feet for a fresh and sophisticated look.
