Las Vegas Market Raises $10,000 To Benefit Gift For Life
4th Annual Charity Gala “Up On 10” Held During Summer Market
LAS VEGAS, September 4, 2014 – Las Vegas Market announced today that its “Up On 10” charity gala held during Summer Market raised more than $10,000 to benefit Gift For Life, the sole charitable organization for the gift, stationery and home décor industries. The fourth annual summer market fundraiser, was held in a new location on the 10th floor of Building C, making it more accessible to the growing numbers of gift, home décor and lifestyle resources concentrated in Building C and a record 300 party-goers attended.
“Participants from the gift and home décor industries generated a tremendous amount of positive energy, while raising money for a great cause,” said Dorothy Belshaw, president of Gift & Home Décor, International Market Centers. “Moving the event to a new centralized location on C10 created better synergies for buyers and suppliers and made it easier for people to get together and do something constructive while having fun at the same time. As the leading furniture, home decor and gift destination in the western United States, Las Vegas Market is committed to supporting the industry and its chief charitable cause.”
The event raised money both through ticket sales as well as a special “Las Vegas experience” silent auction, which offered a wide variety of Las Vegas-themed items to be redeemed during the Winter 2015 Las Vegas Market. Fundraising connected with “Up On 10” will continue after the event, with Las Vegas Market donating several experiential auction items to Party for Life, Gift For Life’s annual fundraiser, which will be held Monday, February 2, in New York City. These “Las Vegas experience” auction donations include: a Mundo Restaurant gift card, valued at $150; a two night stay at “The D,” a $200 value; two tickets to Absinthe, a $300 value; deluxe accommodations in the Golden Nugget’s Rush Tower for three days/two nights Sunday through Thursday along with two tickets to Gordie Brown, a $400 value; a Grand Canyon Helicopter Tour worth $850; and airfare and hotel accommodations for the January 2015 Las Vegas Market, a $2,500 value.
Gift For Life, the gift and home décor industry’s volunteer group raising funds for AIDS assistance and research through DIFFA: Design Industry Foundation Fighting AIDS, was founded in 1992. Since then, Gift for Life has raised more than $5 million through special events, cause-related marketing, promotions, and from corporate and individual donations.
