IDT Wireless Power Chips Used for State-of-the-Art ‘Cube’ Remote Control
To Be Showcased At CES 2015, 4MOD Technology Deploys IDT Transmitter and Receiver for Complete Qi-Standard Wireless Charging System
SAN JOSE, Calif., Dec. 16, 2014 – Integrated Device Technology, Inc. (IDT®) (NASDAQ: IDTI) announced today that its wireless power chips are enabling wireless charging in 4MOD Technology’s innovative new “Cube” remote control. The French company chose IDT’s magnetic induction transmitter and receiver solutions to develop its wireless charging system, compliant with the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) 1.1 Qi specification.
The Cube is a revolutionary remote that allows users to control all functions of their entertainment center—TV, video, music and radio—with a few simple gestures. The sleek black box is charged wirelessly by placing it atop its base.
The Cube deploys the IDT P9038 single-chip WPC 1.1 5V wireless power transmitter in the base unit and the IDT P9025B single-chip ultra-compact wireless power receiver in the remote control.
“Wireless charging is an important part of the Cube user experience, and we wanted to make sure we got it right,” said Laurent Stephan, CEO and founder of 4MOD Technology. “IDT’s success in developing wireless power products for a broad range of applications made choosing a vendor an easy decision.”
“The global wireless charging market has been forecast to reach $13.78 billion by 2020 as the technology moves from its infancy to becoming a standard feature in a broad array of electronic devices,” said Arman Naghavi, vice president and general manager, IDT’s Analog and Power Division. “IDT’s award-winning wireless charging semiconductors have already been designed into a wide range of applications from smart phones to wearables to furniture, and now, a futuristic remote control. Our continuing work with innovative companies will bring this budding capability into many new applications.”
4MOD will demonstrate the Cube at the Consumer Electronics Show Jan. 6-9, 2015, in Las Vegas. IDT will showcase its award-winning wireless power products during meetings at the conference.
